The National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health, under the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), provides a useful resource list with excerpts and links to multiple sources of information on Legal and Financial Issues for People with Alzheimer’s Disease.
As explained by NIA, “Families face a variety of challenges when a loved one develops Alzheimer’s disease (AD) or a related disorder, including coping with legal and financial issues. This resource list provides an overview of helpful brochures, handbooks, tool kits, and other materials to help people with AD and their caregivers make appropriate decisions.”
The NIA Resource List on Legal and Financial Issues for People with Alzheimer’s Disease is available on the NIA’s website.
The AD Lib number at the end of each item on the list can be used to search for a full description of the item at the online Alzheimers Disease (AD) Library provided by the Alzheimer’s Disease Education and Referral Center (ADEAR) of the NIA.
These are good resources for family caregivers who have learned that their loved one has been diagnosed with potential Alzheimer’s Disease.
