Geriatric health experts say a good place to start in assessing elderly health is weight. A weight gain or loss is something to be addressed with a doctor (especially if the reason for the gain or loss is not known). Other elderly health considerations are mobility, balance, memory and mood. It is helpful to record all the pills taken in a day (prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and vitamin supplements) as certain drugs do not interact well with others and can affect one’s health.
