The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), part of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) is providing a new series of Guides for Patients and Consumers. These new Guides for Patients and Consumers include Consumer Guides summarizing clinical research and comparing the benefits, harms and effectiveness of test or treatment choices for various health conditions, as well as Patient Decision Aids to help consumers evaluate and choose among treatment options for different illnesses they may have been diagnosed as having.
The new Guides for Patients and Consumers are part of the Effective Health Care Program administered by AHRQ, with impetus provided under the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act.
