Reports statistics on visual impairment, which increases steadily with age. 92% of people 70 years old or older wear glasses, 32% of those age 85 or older have trouble seeing even with glasses, and over 1.8 million non-institutionalized elderly report difficulty with activities of daily living because of visual impairment.
The leading causes of visual impairment and blindness among the elderly are: cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
