Heros–Reducing Falls and Serious Injuries Training Program Manual

by Temple University School of Medicine and Department of Public Health, funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Training manual for the HEROS© (Health, Education, Research Outreach for Seniors) fall prevention program. The training manual is intended for health care professionals, but provides useful information for family caregivers, as well. It includes facts and statistics about falls and injuries, a detailed overview of risk factors and the most frequent causes of falls, discussion of attitudes and readiness for behavioral change, screening assessment forms and exercises to test fall risk and physical ability, an environmental safety check, and guidelines for interventions, including walking and exercise programs, and education on making the environment safer.
