New York Power of Attorney Statutes

New York: Laws of New York State, General Obligation Law, Article 5, Title 15, Sections 5-1501 through 5-1506.

Section 5-1501 contains the official New York Statutory Short Form of Power of Attorney, which New Yorkers can rely upon as being legal.

Sections 5-1502A through 5-1502O state rules for construction of powers of attorney in New York, Sections 5-1503 and 5-1504 relate to modifications and acceptance of the statutory short form of power of attorney, Section 5-1505 provides the requirements for a Durable Power of Attorney in New York, and Section 5-1506 governs Springing Powers of Attorney in New York.
