Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci May Cause Severe UTI Infection

Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci (VRE), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. Because of its drug-resistance, VRE is one of the most serious types of bacteria that can cause urinary tract infections. The risks of contracting VRE infection are highest in a hospital, nursing home, or long-term care facility.
