Guardianships, like Powers of Attorney, are matters of state law. Each U.S. State is different. The laws, procedures, and requirements regarding the establishment of guardianships (called conservatorships, in some states), differ state to state. A qualified attorney in the state(s) where your elderly loved one resides and has property should be consulted.
